In support of their upcoming and hotly anticipated releases, EARTH SHIP have teamed up with HIGH FIGHTER and MAMMOTH STORM for an album release summer tour, kicking off in July!

Hailing from Germany's capitol Berlin, on their upcoming new album 'Hollowed' which is set to be released June 24th on Napalm Records, once again EARTH SHIP celebrate the power of riffs in all shapes and sizes. They're not just delivering a finest sludge record, but it has been also written to be made for eternity in doom and beyond. Watch out when EARTH SHIP is going to perform their walls of tunes live!
With HIGH FIGHTER on the bill, a volatile cocktail of heavy as hell riffs fuelled by beer and the mighty weedian riffs is already guaranteed, as these guys and girl offer something special to the Sludge, Blues and Stoner Scene! After their critically acclaimed debut EP 'The Goat Ritual' released end of 2014, followed by numerous shows over Europe including UK dates, festivals, gigs and tours with bands such as Ahab, Mammoth Storm, Crowbar, Corrosion of Conformity, The Midnight Ghost Train & many more, HIGH FIGHTER will release their first & full length album 'Scars & Crosses' by June 10th 2016 with Svart Records.
But who would mess with a MAMMOTH STORM. These Swedish label mates of EARTH SHIP have already made their name and left a stamp in the worldwide doom scene! With their latest and highly acclaimed release 'Fornjot' (November 2015, Napalm Records), MAMMOTH STORM toured with bands such the likes of AHAB and already gained lots of praise from fans and press all over the world of doom and heaviest riffs.

Die vierte Reise der deutschen Nautik-Funeral-Doomband AHAB entführt den Hörer in die fantastische Horror-Welt des englischen Schriftstellers William Hope Hodgson, dessen namensgebende Novelle (Erstveröffentlichung im Jahr 1907) aus der Perspektive eines Schiffspassagiers der gesunkenen “Glen Carrig” von den Abenteuern der Überlebenden erzählt, die dem Wrack in zwei Rettungsbooten entkommen konnten. AHAB gelingt es auf geradezu beeindruckende Weise die schier hoffnungslose Situation der Schiffbrüchigen in sechs Kapiteln zu verklangbildlichen. Dabei wird sich sehr viel Zeit mit dem Aufbau der von purer Verzweiflung getragenen Grundstimmung gelassen, um in Momenten völliger seelischer Aufgabe das für AHAB typische Riffing übernehmen zu lassen. Nach dem Ende des Sturms erklingen Gitarrenleads als greife eine rettende Hand durch die letzten bis auf den Grund des Ozeans reichenden Lichtstrahlen hindurch, um die meine zu fassen. Doch ich erreiche sie nicht und es zieht mich immer weiter hinab in die tiefsten Tiefen der See, wo das Blau des Wassers verschwindet, aber der kleinste Lichtstrahl die Meeresflora und -fauna in den schillerndsten Farben leuchten lässt. Diese Schönheit einzufangen, ohne die gnadenlose Grausamkeit der Tiefsee zu vergessen, ist das Kunststück, welches AHAB von der ersten bis zur letzten Sekunde dieses Doom-Epos vollbringen, angefangen von wunderschönen bluesgeküssten Gitarrenpassagen und den verträumt-melancholischen Vocals von Daniel Droste bis hin zu mörderisch rollenden Funeral-Riffs und abgrundtiefem Gutturalgesang. Einen Songfavoriten herauszustellen ist angesichts des stimmigen Gesamtwerks unmöglich. “The Boats Of The Glen Carrig” ist nautischer, epischer, heavier und vielseitiger als alles, was AHAB bisher auf Tonträger gebannt haben. Pessimismus kann so schön sein: Die deutschen Nautic Doomer AHAB haben sich nicht nur ihr ganz eigenes Subgenre erschaffen, sie sind auch unnachahmliche Lieferanten eleganter Schwermut! "The Boats Of The Glen Carrig" basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Roman von William Hope Hodgson aus dem Jahre 1907 über den Überlebenskampf nach einem Schiffbruch: Die eiseskalte Umarmung der See und einer psychedelischen Reise handelnd von schauderigen Seegras-Monstern und Kreaturen der Meere – wie immer stimmungsvoll von AHAB in Blei gegossen! Seit Bandgründung Ende 2004 hat sich der Vierer kontinuierlich an die Spitze in Sachen (Funeral) Doom vorgearbeitet, und mit "The Boats Of The Glen Carrig" segeln AHAB nun vollends an die Spitze ihres Genres & darüber hinaus!


Pessimism can be so beautiful: German nautic doomers AHAB have not only created their very own subgenre, they are also incomparable dabblers in solemn melancholy! With "The Boats of the Glen Carrig" the band was inspired by the novel of the same name written by William Hope Hodgson first published in1907. It is widely regarded as a "survival and adventure story with elements of psychedelic horror in the form of weird weed monsters and dangerous snail-like creatures", thus making it a perfect backdrop for AHAB's doom and gloom approach. Since the band`s founding in late 2004, the four-piece has continuously worked its way to the top of (funeral) doom. "The Boats of the Glen Carrig" is their magnum opus and is gracefully nestled in between slow-motion anthems and haunting melodies.

Archival recordings from America's first doom band to be released February 23rd

Relapse Records is proud to announce the official re-release of BEDEMON's archival recordings, "Child of Darkness". Widely considered America's first doom metal band, BEDEMON formed in 1973 and consisted of original Pentagram members Randy Palmer, Geof O'Keefe, and Bobby Liebling. The group was an offshoot of Pentagram, with a darker and doomier tone. BEDEMON recorded various sessions spanning from 1973-1979 which are being made available once again after being out-of-print for over 10 years.

Child of Darkness will be made available on CD/LP on February 20 in GAS, Benelux and Finland, February 23 in the rest of Europe and UK and on February 24 in the US. Relapse Records veröffentlicht "Child Of Darkness" erneut, BEDEMONs Archiv-Aufnahmen. 1973 gegründet rekrutierte sich BEDEMON aus den originalen Pentagram-Mitgliedern Randy Palmer, Geof O'Keefe, und Bobby Liebling. BONGZILLA became a classic band of the Sludge/Doom/Stoner scene in the beginning of the 2000s with albums like "Stash" or "Gateway". In 2005 their last studio album "Amerijuanican" recorded with "Dixie" Dave Collins bass-player of WEEDEATER as a member came out. Later the band got into a hiatus till now, during this period some members have been active in other musical projects like AQUILONIAN, with Mike (vocalist/guitarrist) and Magma (Drummer). BONGZILLA returns to the stages only for now with the line-up of the "Gateaway" album. There will be gigs in the U.S. and a bunch of selected gigs in Europe and Russia, including performances at festivals like Temples in Bristol, U.K., and Heavy Days in Doomtown in Copenhagen, Denmark.

BONGZILLA war in den frühen 2000ern eine klassische Sludge/Doom/Stoner-Band, deren letztes Album "Amerijuanican" im Jahr 2005 mit "Dixie" Dave Collins von WEEDEATER aufgenommen wurde. BONGZILLA meldet sich nur für diese Tour und mit dem "Gateway"-Album-Line-up zurück. Die Engländer, rund um Gitarristin & Frontfrau Sophie Day gaben nun erste Details zum Cover, Titel, zur Tracklist & den Release Dates bekannt!


„Awakening The Forest“ wird am 03.10.2014 veröffentlicht und verspricht jede Menge schwere Grooves, harte Gitarren und eine ganz besondere, tiefe Atmosphäre, die dem einst von Black Sabbath begründeten Genre alle Ehre machen wird.

Unser Resümee zum DOOM OVER LEIPZIG 2014 lautet ganz eindeutig: Top Bands an einmaligem Veranstaltungsort und tolle Stimmung! Wenn man die Entwicklung des Leipziger Festivals betrachtet, hat es sich zu einem Doom-Event der Superlative gemausert. Dieses Jahr warteten die Veranstalter mit den Genre-Größen ESOTERIC, WINDHAND, INDIAN, CONAN und KONGH auf, die allesamt und dem guten Klang im ehrwürdigen UT Connewitz sei Dank, ein Doom-Brett nach dem anderen ablieferten.

Auch den Sludge-Jüngern wurde die volle Eyehategod-Kante mit GRAVES AT SEA und SOURVEIN geboten, in deren Folge nicht wenige Gäste entzückt grinsend herumliefen. Maximal melancholisch gruben sich die akustischen Stücke von 40 WATT SUN in die Herzschmerz- und Seelenleid-geprüften Publikumsherzen. Kein geringerer als Ex-WARNINGs Patrick Walker überzeugte mit seinen zutiefst berührenden Stücken. Auch wenn ich an der einen oder anderen Stelle die verzerrte Gitarre vermisste, gab es das ersehnte "Footprints" von WARNING noch als Sahnehäubchen oben drauf.

THE BODY sorgte für die passende Drone-Note und CIRCLE sowohl für das optische und tonale Überraschungsmoment im Festival-Billing. Man stelle sich den Frontmann mit Addidas-Trainingsanzug, Nieten-Armgürtel und gestochenen Heavy-Vocals vor, dazu die entsprechenden Gitarrenriffs, Hamond-Orgel-Attacken en masse und eine mit homoerotischen Einlagen durchzogene Performance, dass kein Auge trocken blieb. Musikalisch tanzten CIRCLE klar aus der Festival-Reihe, waren aber auch nach dem äußerst unterhaltsamen Auftritt in aller Munde.

OLD MAN GLOOM begeisterte alle Fans von Riffs wie GODFLESH sie seiner Zeit spielten. Nur bei INTER ARMA fiel es mir schwer, Gefallen an der zuweilen anstrengend Schwarzmetall-lastigen Musik zu finden. Das war aber bei der Menge an hochkarätigen Bands an allen drei Tagen zu verschmerzen und ich maximal zerdoomt.

Warum das UT Connewitz so ein einmaliger Veranstaltungsort ist? Fragt einfach bei NEUROSIS nach, die während jeder Europatour zwei Konzerte auf der Bühne im ältesten Lichtspielkino Deutschlands geben. Oder Jon von CONAN, der es mir kurz, bündig und auf den Punkt ins Ohr flüsterte: "What an awesome venue!" Recht hat er. Ich freue mich schon auf das nächste Jahr wenn es wieder heißt: DOOM OVER LEIPZIG!

German Funeral Doomsters AHAB are looking for artists to do a short movie. Here is what the band tells you:

"As you might know, we're just about to write a new album and we want YOU to participate this time! So if you're into audiovisual art in any form and would like to do a short film for us, this might be interesting for you:

Any idea, any technique, any twist you might think of is good – may it be stop motion, silhouette, documentary, animation, cartoons, serious stuff, heavy with meaning stuff, even satirical stuff … whatever – we'd love to see it. But keep in mind: Our songs are mostly around 10 minutes long. And note: we don't want t to be filmed as "actors" or as musicians pretending to play the songs live on an iceberg, in a forest or anywhere else.

OF COURSE: We DON'T want you to do the final video of the new song for free (!) – we won't have a monster budget though of course, but a decent one. (A good piece of art should have its price, we think).

How to take part: Just take your favorite minute of any of our old songs and send your visual interpretation of it until 1st of may latest as a download-link. It should be in HD quality of course. We'll choose the best ones. Please do not upload it anywhere in public.

"Wie ihr vielleicht wisst, sind wir dabei ein neues Album zu schreiben und wir wollen euch dabei miteinbinden! Falls ihr euch mit audiovisueller Kunst in irgendeiner Form beschäftigt und einen kleinen Film für uns machen möchtet, wäre dies vielleicht interessant für euch:

Jede Idee, jede Technik, alles was ihr denkt, dass es gut ist, ist willkommen - egal ob es Stop-Motion, Silhouette, Dokumentation, Animation, Cartoons, bedeutungsvolle Filme, auch satirische Filme sind - wir würden uns freuen, es zu sehen.

Aber nicht vergessen: Unsere Songs sind meist um die 10 Minuten lang. Auch wollen wir nicht als Darsteller oder Musicer Songs auf einem Eisberg, im Wald oder sonswo spielen. ;-)

Wir wollen NICHT, dass ihr das finale Video dann gratis macht - Wir haben zwar kein Monsterbudget, aber ein bischen ist vorhanden. (gute Kunst soll seinen Preis haben, sind wir der Meinung).
