CORROSION OF CONFORMITY to headline the Friday at DESERTFEST LONDON 2016 – CROWBAR as co-headliner, more bands to be announced soon




It is with great excitement that we're revealing the second headliner to walk the DESERTFEST LONDON stage next April 29th in Camden, with America's coolest volume dealers CORROSION OF CONFORMITY and no one but their historical frontman Pepper Keenan at the helm! Icing on this greasy cake: their sludgy brothers in arms CROWBAR will co-headline the night, for a "southern special" Friday at Desertfest!

UK's forerunner stoner/doom/psyche gathering DESERTFEST couldn't reach the milestone of their 5th edition without having cult acts on the bill. And who could open this special weekend better than one of America's most inspiring and outstanding bands of musicians in heavy music, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, reuniting with their iconic guitarist and frontman Pepper Keenan (also well-known for founding leading southern metal unit Down). With the recent news of COC's signing on Nuclear Blast Records and recording of a new album due out in the fall of 2016, there is no doubt that this fifth Desertfest London will go down in history!

As previously announced and to make it even more special, NOLA's sludge metal heroes CROWBAR will co-headline the Friday along with COC, bringing their influential slow-and-low sound to the masses. Once again this is a first, as Kirk Windstein and his crew of titans have never played any Desertfest before. A night dedicated to US sludge and rock heavyweights!

THE MACHINE (NL) 
Evolving from the roots of modern stoner rock, their music features powerful hard-hitting rock, a fair dose of retro psych, acid-blues jamming and more experimental approach. Their very own sound is a compromise between organic and groovy drumming, inventive low end pounding and a punishing wall of guitar with some old school lead work.

RED STONER SUN (GER) 
Berlin-based band playing a skilled blend of experimental outtaspace desert-rock and good old heavy dirty blues.
SIENA ROOT (SWE) 
well known for its unique spectra of appearances, its broad musical range and its different nterpretations of rock music. It's a constant transforming group, ranging from acoustic sitar to distorted hurdy gurdy.

CHURCH OF MISERY (JP)
With a very distinctive doom-gloom-bizarre sound enhanced by the influence of early 70s music like Black Sabbath and by their serial killer lyrics.

"The fourth edition of Doom over Leipzig is just around the corner and comes with an awesome and unexpected line up. Be sure to experience three days full of emotions and a journey through several variations of Doom and Metal. We used to start the festival with a relaxed, calm program on Thursday, f.i. with lectures or a documentary as you certainly remember – that’s simply not possible this year. We keep on celebrating the Doom from the first moment. You are going to see the following bands at this evening: Windhand, a quintet from US that just got honored from CVLT Nation for releasing the best Doom Metal LP in 2013, called “Soma”. Heading from the same village as Windhand we have Inter Arma a grim formation that knows perfectly how to bring Sludge and Black Metal in to an awesome symbiosis. Indian is the thrid in a row. This Chigaco based band is celebrating their 10th anniversary and putting the icing on the the cake by doing an European tour and having a stop at our festival.

We don’t really know where to start when we take a look at the line up of friday evening: First of all there is Circle from Finnland, a seven piece that brings out a combination of folk and ambient sounds out of twenty years of the bands history. In their huge discography list you’ll find an endless amount of studio and live recordings but also two soundtracks. One of them for the Finnish film-director Mika Taanila. As long in the business as the guys and gals in Circle are Sourvein a dirty Southern Sludge group heading from North Carolina, US. Their sound is typical and reminds of bands like Eyehategod. Graves at Sea, one of serveral goldies of the label Gilded Media is standing for the limbo at this evening. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, the band already visited Leipzig in 2013 – so we are more than happy to welcome them back to the right time at the right place. The grand final initiates 40 Watt Sun – we are honored to have this Funeral Doom legends on stage at our festival. Nobody can pass the voice of Patrick Walker without getting a thick lump in it’s throat abruptly. Clenched Doom Metal meets emotional vocals. At the end of Friday evening is no one less than Old Man Gloom – the DIY legends around ex-Isis frontman Aaron Turner. We could continue with the namedropping about this band, but this is not necessary because of Old Man Gloom’s very own, distinctive sound.

After a short break to take a breath, the line up for Saturday is now the turn: First in our introduction is Conan, the trio from Liverpool that is also touring to promote their new album “Blood Eagle” – we are excited! More Funeral Doom brings Esoteric to us. They’re from UK as well and play this monumental and powerful sound since two decades. Kongh actually known as a swedish doom three piece shrunk to a duo initiate the first part of finishing of the evening. Closely followed by The Body from Arkansas which put the final nail in the coffin of humanity in their music. The bearded duo which resides with their experimental Sludge sound on the well known label Thrill Jockey, hopefully ensures that after their show, the last spark of life will is gone from our audience." - MODERN OBSESSION BOOKING
