"For Doom The Bell Tolls"
Dublin based DREAD SOVEREIGN, recruiting of Primordial members, have their awaited second full-length out: "For Doom The Bell Tolls", serving an homage to the genre itself, literally and sonically. The album blows in with a storm from the evil past that is ringing the twelve bells of Salem proclaiming another age of doom and decline, a world that is "Draped In Sepulchral Fog" sent by dark forces from "The Spines Of Saturn" ... – The track titles read like a diabolical story inspired by medieval superstition and catholic inquisition famous for witch-hunt and burning pyres. The tracks are the soundtrack delivering traditionally rolling doom, old school heavy metal as well as unexpected outa space psychedelia, which is quite unusual for DREAD SOVEREIGN but underlining the album's musicial and lyrical concept. Culminates in a Venom cover, "Live Like An Angel, Die Like A Devil", – which is as deadly as the own songs. (SM)
