Archival recordings from America's first doom band to be released February 23rd

Relapse Records is proud to announce the official re-release of BEDEMON's archival recordings, "Child of Darkness". Widely considered America's first doom metal band, BEDEMON formed in 1973 and consisted of original Pentagram members Randy Palmer, Geof O'Keefe, and Bobby Liebling. The group was an offshoot of Pentagram, with a darker and doomier tone. BEDEMON recorded various sessions spanning from 1973-1979 which are being made available once again after being out-of-print for over 10 years.

Child of Darkness will be made available on CD/LP on February 20 in GAS, Benelux and Finland, February 23 in the rest of Europe and UK and on February 24 in the US. BONGZILLA became a classic band of the Sludge/Doom/Stoner scene in the beginning of the 2000s with albums like "Stash" or "Gateway". In 2005 their last studio album "Amerijuanican" recorded with "Dixie" Dave Collins bass-player of WEEDEATER as a member came out. Later the band got into a hiatus till now, during this period some members have been active in other musical projects like AQUILONIAN, with Mike (vocalist/guitarrist) and Magma (Drummer). BONGZILLA returns to the stages only for now with the line-up of the "Gateaway" album. There will be gigs in the U.S. and a bunch of selected gigs in Europe and Russia, including performances at festivals like Temples in Bristol, U.K., and Heavy Days in Doomtown in Copenhagen, Denmark.

BONGZILLA war in den frühen 2000ern eine klassische Sludge/Doom/Stoner-Band, deren letztes Album "Amerijuanican" im Jahr 2005 mit "Dixie" Dave Collins von WEEDEATER aufgenommen wurde. Los Angeles, California's GOATSNAKE have announced further live dates in Europe, kicking off at the end of May with their set at Temples Festival, and taking the band through territories new to them. This comes in the light of the news of a brand new album from the band, which they have just completed recording, and will see release on Southern Lord this summer.

The new album will feature the familiar faces of Greg Rogers (The Obsessed, Sonic Medusa), providing drums, Greg Anderson of Sunn O))) taking care of the riffs, Pete Stahl (Scream, Wool, Earthlings?) on vocals, and new bassist new and Cape Fear North Carolina legend Scott Renner (Brickbat, Sourvein, Sonic Medusa). On production duties is Nick Raskulinecz, both him and the band are sure to serve a menacing cut of the time-honoured ultra-heavy rock they are infamous for.

Further details of this are to come, meanwhile Greg Anderson did offer this insight, "We are beyond stoked about the new Snake album. We all rose to the occasion and with the help of Nick and the state of Tennessee delivered the fucking goods. More soul, more power, more balls."

Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of Oakland, CA funeral death/doom quartet LYCUS. Originally formed in 2008, the group released their debut demo in 2011 which was later reissued by The Flenser the following year. 2013 saw the group release their critically acclaimed debut full-length, entitled "Tempest", on 20 Buck Spin Records (Listen here). The band will now enter Atomic Garden Studios in Palo Alto, CA this April to record their sophomore full-length and Relapse debut.

Set to Release First Full-Length in Six Years This Spring Via Relapse Records


Following a six-year slumber, Illinois enigmatic sound conjurors, MINSK, are readying to unveil the otherworldly fruit of their long-anticipated new studio creation, "The Crash & The Draw". Which is a thematic continuation of the group's long standing fascination with alchemical and esoteric ideologies, with marked nods toward the thought and writings of perennial inspiration, Kahlil Gibran, and the espoused words of Hermes Trismegistus, the fabled author of the Corpus Hermeticum and other sacred texts. The album boasts eleven arresting movements that transcend the confines of post-metal, sludge and psychedelia.

After touring in support of "To Sail Black Waters" over the past two years, SECRETS OF THE SKY are prepared to take their next step. They've completed tracking their sophomore album at Trident Studios with producer/engineer Juan Urteaga (Testament, Machine Head, Cattle Decapitation). THE BLACK GOAT UPRISING is an orchestrated miasma of dark sounds including dark ambient, noise, and doom metal. Inspired and fueled by an anger of the state of affairs of a theistic society where celebrity culture and social media are the opiate of the masses. Originally the soundtrack for a horror film that was never made, this music is now the soundtrack of a revolution for those who never accepted the popular social narratives or followed the sheep to gain their acceptance. It is NOT about writing the next hit or following the latest trends. No verses, no choruses... The Black Goat Uprising have put the finishing touches on the debut release "Medusa". Set for release on March 27th.

THE BLACK GOAT UPRISING haben nicht nur einen obercoolen Bandnamen, sie vereinen auch auf ganz besonders böse Art und Weise Dark Ambient, Noise und Doom Metal. Ihre Inspiration gewinnt die Gruppe aus dem Zustand einer theistischen Gesellschaft, in der eine Celebrity-Kultur und soziale Netzwerke das Opium der Massen symbolisieren. "Medusa" könnte auch der Soundtrack eines aufwühlenden Horrorfilms sein, eignet sich aber ebenso gut als Untermalung einer Revolution gegen starre soziale Gefüge und die Herdenmentalität der Massen. Erwartet jedenfalls auf keinen Fall eine Band, die probiert, Euch den nächsten Singlehit zu servieren und nach gängigen Songschemata vorgeht. Chef-GOAT Jimmy Psycho schrieb "Medusa" u.a. während seiner Zeit als Beschäftigter (nicht Insasse!) einer geschlossenen Anstalt. Das entsprechende Alptraumszenario hört man auf dem Album bestens durch: ein orchestriertes Chaos, dem niemand entrinnen kann. "Medusa" erscheint am 27ten März auf Rot'n'Roll Army Records.
