YODOK III trio
Invited by norwegian tubaist Kristoffer Lo and swedish drummer Tomas Järmyr, Dirk Serries travelled in August 2012 to Oslo to dive into the studio for what would become a fantastic experience and a new level of interaction and creativity for him.
The duo of Kristoffer and Tomas started out playing modern free jazz but the addition of bigger drums, more electronics, bigger amps and the addition of Dirk changed the sound and dynamic range dramatically and turned this duo project into a trio.
Today YODOK and the trio variation stands on a solid foundation where the music reflects an extensive musical background, remarkable musicianship, and the never ending strive to break musical boundaries. Leaving their individual roles and instruments behind, the YODOK III trio is organic, thematic and dynamic, founded on intense focus and patience. Slow, but sometimes highly energetic and frenetic in it's appearance.
Their first trio album was recorded at the fantastic athletic sound studio in halden by kai anderson and currently slated for release in early 2014, details will be announced soon but already excited to announce that YODOK III will play renowned jazz venue Dokkhuset in Trondheim in Norway:
26.10.13 : oslo, norway - to be confirmed
28.10.13 : dokkhuset, trondheim, norway
