"Sludge fiends FISTULA have pulled themselves up out of the gutter they call home and hooked up with Boston's mighty Patac Records to release the Loser EP. This brand-new 12" is due out in September.

According to FISTULA ringleader Corey Bing, “It’s very dark and sad, twisted humor, dense, heavy, tuned LOW. It sounds like The Hounds: old metal, Venom style with GBH undertones. It sounds like Death playing hopscotch with the apocalypse while finger-bangin’ Autopsy.”

The six-song record features the band’s trademark sickening guitar tone, agonized vocals, and wretched attitude, worshipping as always upon the bloodstained altars of Celtic Frost, Winter, EyeHateGod, and Buzzoven.

Following in FISTULA’s long-running tradition of all-out chaos and confusion, the Loser EP features an updated lineup - a nasty cast of characters drawn from the likes of Anal Cunt (drummer Nate Linehan) and King Fire Goat (Steve Barcus, vocals) alongside the OG members.

At the heart of Fistula are guitarist/main man Corey Bing (who sings, plays guitar, and/or drums on some releases, depending on who’s flaking out at the moment) and bassist Bahb Branca, the toxic twins of sludge metal, blood brothers who have been to hell and back together. They started the band in 1998, and live a little cave in Cleveland, Ohio called The Fistula House. And, yeah, being the good guys in a world of shit, they have problems. We won’t name names, but a quick look at these guys’ lives over the last year, and it’s like the kind of shit you’d hear at a 12-step meeting. Divorce. Dependency. Depression. Destruction. Shit just got worse.

Some people hammered away at Fistula like they were trying to make ‘em quit. But they didn’t. The band is back. Holy shit, are they back."

"The second long-awaited album from the leading Russian funeral doom metal band Comatose Vigil! During more than five years since their EP “Narcosis” the band’s line-up several times have changed for various gigs, but finally they returned to the original one, in which was recorded the debut album, made the band famous: A.K. iEzor – vocals, drums; ViG’iLL – guitars, bass; ZiGR – keyboards. It’s in this classical line-up they have recorded their brand new album «Fuimus, Non Sumus…». The recording was performed at Primordial Studio (Russia), also famous for work with Revelations of Rain, Who Dies In Siberian Slush, engineered by Hater & Stellarghost (from Abstract Spirit, Twilight Is Mine). Mixing & mastering was done by Greg Chandler (from Esoteric) at Priory Recording Studios (UK). The CD contains three absolutely new compositions with total length of 75’35”! Comatose Vigil music became more mature, balanced and rich, certainly, continuing its cold, dark monumental tradition. Sounding noticeably transformed, in adding power, depth, and transparency, while a feeling for fine details become more well-marked, crowning a breathtaking material. This work can deservedly be considered one of the best examples of funeral doom metal in the world! The album is issued as a noble limited edition digipack containing a booklet, and a hand-numbered inlay with band photo and musicians original signatures!"

New extraordinary work from a famous melancholic metal band from Moscow, The Morningside. As we were told by band members the idea of this release appeared quite a long time ago as the story behind “The Trees” song was longer than the song and now it has its final. TreeLogia was step by step gaining its present form and finally appeared as a tale. The listener could make a decision himself if this is a story of a man lost among the trees and permanently became one of them or a stort of man fleeing from something, perhaps, his past, who found the harmony or loneliness or… gone insane. Or is it a very different story? One of band member considers The Trees Part Three as a chronologic beginning of the story, not a final.

The second album title “The Album As It Is Not” also has some idea behind it as there is actually only one song at the album, despite of its diversity. Thus, The Morningside are ready to present their first CD-single which lasts for more that 50 minutes!

No DOOM SHALL RISE festival in 2012

Due to profound reasons there will also be no DOOM SHALL RISE festival in 2012 after this year's cancellation. Here's an excerpt of organizer Frank's statement:

"(...) Unfortunately – and despite other plans there will be no DOOM SHALL RISE in 2012!

The reason for the break in 2011 is well known: my wife Chantal (also in charge of DSR merch) and I have become parents of our wonderful twins Merlin and Morgain on the 12th of May 2010, Our Twins Of Doom. Therefore it was clear that there would be no DSR this year as we didn’t want to miss a moment in the exciting first months.

Even though M&M are very relaxed and easy to handle they demand more time every day, they get more active and daring and their lives become more exciting. For me as a domestic engineer and fulltime daddy it means that there is no spare time left to organize DSR. It is very time-consuming and every year a risky venture to make the festival happens with the given financial backing. It demands full dedication and concentration and I won’t have the time for it in the foreseeable future.(...)"
