KYLESA recently announced a winter Australian/European headlining tour

Critically-acclaimed, genre-defying southern quintet KYLESA has seen the release of a new music video for the track "Low Tide", off their latest album, 'Ultraviolet'. The video, directed by Brodie Rush is streaming now, at Noisey.

KYLESA recently announced a winter Australian/European headlining tour. The tour features KYLESA's first trek down-under since playing the legendary Soundwaves Festival, which kicks off December 7th in Perth. Support on a special tour date in Brisbane comes from PHILM (featuring Dave Lombardo) and EAGLE TWIN. Following the Australian dates, KYLESA's European tour kicks off January 1st in the Czech Republic, and will see the band travel for a month before ending in Germany. Support on this leg of the tour comes from KYLESA's Retro-Futurist label recording artists SIERRA and JAGGED VISION. A full list of confirmed tour dates can be found below.

BRETUS from Italy is starting the recording session of the new song "The Haunter Of The Dark", it will be an anticipation of the sound of the upcoming full length. However, that sonout outg will not appear on the new album's tracklist, they will begin to work on it during the next year.

In the meanwhile, very soon, they will receive a vinyl version of "In Onirica" issued by Blood Rock Records.

UK Retro-power Rockers STUBB Sign Worldwide Deal With Ripple Music

RIPPLE MUSIC is proud to announce the signing of acclaimed, hard-hitting UK-based retro-heavy rockers, STUBB to their ever-expanding roster!

Stubb was formed in 2006 with Jack Dickinson on guitar and vocals, Aaron O'Sullivan on drums and Isa Bruni on bass. The power trios of the late 60's and early 70's were the blueprint for their loud driving, fuzzed up heavy blues rock. In 2009, Chris West joined on drums and Peter Holland on bass (both also members of Trippy Wicked), solidifying the first classic line-up. The band recorded their first full length album for Chris West's label Superhot Records, and hit the road, gigging with such heavy rock luminaries as the Gentlemans Pistols, Firebird, Cherry Choke, Steak, Sungrazer and The Machine as well as appearing at Desertfest to a packed house Purple Turtle. Making the trip over to Europe twice with Stone Axe from the USA further cemented Stubb's reputation as a solid live act with some serious chops.

"We are delighted to be signing with Ripple Music, who are one of the hardest working independent labels on the scene," Dickinson said. "To be alongside the likes of Mos Generator, Mothership, Stone Axe and Grifter as labelmates is an honour and a pleasure. The new record will bring you the sound of Stubb that along with a whole load of new shades and surprises. We hope to come and play in front of new audiences and treat you all to the loud sound of three guys doing what they love."

With the departure of Chris West, the band recruited Tom Fyfe (ex-Olde Crone) as the new drummer. Tom brings another new sound to the powerful rhythm section as they prepare to head to Skyhammer Studios with Chris Fielding, January 26 - 30 to record their Ripple Music debut. The album will mixed and mastered by Mos Generator's Tony Reed at Heavy Head Studios, guaranteeing a sonic explosion of heaviness.

For the growing legions of Ripple fans, known as the Waveriders, Stubb will be another must-hear addition to the ranks of bands that already include such heavy rockers as Mos Generator, Devil to Pay, Mothership, Trucker Diablo and Ape Machine. You can bet that the combination of Stubb and Ripple Music will be a combustible mixture!

MIST is a new all-female Doom Metal band from Ljubljana (Slovenia), formed in July 2012. They build their music on the legacy of legendary bands like Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Candlemass, Coven, Saint Vitus and others. With the premiere live show at the end of September 2013 the girls without a doubt demonstrated, that such a specific genre of music is not necessarily just a men's domain.

FIRELORD: New album "Amongst The Snakes" of the Italian Stoner/Doom outfit out now

FIRELORD are burning roads with fuzzy uptempo numbers, prooving that they are living "Amongst The Snakes" whilst hailing the musical roots with sluggish tracks, reminiscent of the godfathers of all that's heavy and slow - the mighty BLACK SABBATH!

FIRELORD started up in Turin in 2007 from the ashes of a Doom Metal project named Saint Judas
founded by Mario E. Bussini few years before. In 2007 Beppe Tozza, Daniele Biffaro and Giulio Buscaglione joined the project. The band plays some covers and a couple of draft tunes heavy influenced by Black Sabbath, Count Raven, Gates of Slumber, Earthride, Saint Vitus and Wino projects, Doom scene, Stoner and Metal until the '80s.

Many problems and changes happened to the lineup, until 2011 when get stable with the entrance of bass player Dario Giuva, who joins the project and partecipate to realase of the four tracks recorded in the first Firelord EP "The Burning EP".



2013' lineup is formed by Mario E.Bussini (voice, guitars), Giulio Buscaglione (drums) and Mario Pappano (bass).

Recorded at Electrical Audio and Soma Studios in Chicago with engineer/co-producer Sanford Parker (Minsk, Nachtmystium, Yob, Samothrace), From All Purity will see its official release via Relapse Records on CD/LP/Digital in North America on January 21st, 2014, Germany/Benelux/Finland on January 17th, and in the UK/World on January 20th. WINDHAND (USA) und PILGRIM (USA) spielen heute in Leipzig - NICHT VERPASSEN!!!

Heute Abend macht die Europatour von WINDHAND und PILGRIM in Leipzig Halt, um Mitteldeutschland das Doomen zu lehren. Die zwei US-amerikanischen Bands werden von TOTEM SKIN und TENGIL aus Schweden unterstützt. Wer am heutigen Buß- und Bettag noch nichts vor hat, dem sei dringend ans Herz gelegt, sich dieses Konzert anzuschauen.

Zu Beginn dieses Jahres wurde Parker Chandler an den Sechssaiter von WINDHAND gestellt, dessen Band COUGH allen Liebhabern des Sludge/Doom Metal ein Begriff sein sollte. WINDHAND, die es erst seit 2008 gibt, haben es innerhalb kurzer Zeit geschafft, Relapse Records auf sich aufmerksam zu machen und eine Split mit COUGH (Refelections Of The Negative) sowie das aktuelle, zweite Vollzeitalbum namens "Soma" auf dem renomierten amerikanischen Plattenlabel herausgebracht. WINDHAND kombinieren schwere Riffs mit eingängigen Melodien, die nicht zufällig an Bands im Stil von ELECTRIC WIZARD erinnern. Nur das es hier wesentlich traditioneller und emotionaler zur Sache geht, woran vor allem der einmalige Gesang von Frontfrau Dorthia Cottrell schuld ist.

EYEHATEGOD played two NYC shows with new drummer Aaron Hill

Last week, "Big Easy sludge all-stars" EYEHATEGOD brought their tour to NYC for their first two area shows since the tragic passing of drummer and founding member Joey LaCaze -- one at the Acheron on Saturday (11/16) and one at Saint Vitus on Thursday (11/14). After Dale Crover of the Melvins briefly filled in at Housecore Horror Film Fest, these shows were with LaCaze's permanent replacement, Aaron Hill.

Das 8. HAMMER OF DOOM hat voll ins Schwarze getroffen!!!

Zur Treffsicherheit des Doom-Hammers trugen allen voran die großartig authentischen AGE OF TAURUS und PROCESSION bei, indem sie uns eine gediegene Dauergänsehaut bescherten.

WHEEL bewiesen wieder einmal, dass in deutschen Landen traditioneller Doom Metal auf allerhöchstem Niveau gespielt wird, dessen Gesangs- und Gitarrenmelodien seinesgleichen suchen. Nichtsdestotrotz wurde den Dortmundern die Opener-Position absolut nicht gerecht und der eine oder andere zu spät gekommene verpasste dieses Schmankerl der langsamen Musikkunst.
Die skandinavischen Bands ALTAR OF OBLIVION und BELOW zeigten eindrucksvoll, dass CANDLEMASS ernstzunehmender Nachwuchs im Nacken sitzt, der keine Rücksicht auf die Vorreiter des epischen Doom Metal nimmt. Wer zu langsam wird, der könnte auch im Doom-Tempo überholt werden und aufgrund zurückgefahrener Aktivität für gleichgültiges Schulterzucken bei den Fans sorgen. Ernstzunehmende Alternativen sind in Dänemark und Schweden definitiv vorhanden.
Alle 70s und Blues Rock-Freunde kamen dieses Mal auf ihre vollen Kosten. Alleine am Freitagabend wurde mit SCORPION CHILD, BLUES PILLS und ORCHID das volle Retro-Brett gefahren, dass die Schlaghosen nur so im Fuzz-Wind flatterten.
Zum Abschluss gab es am Samstag noch JEX THOTH und WHILE HEAVEN WEPT, die, wie nicht anders zu erwarten, für eine ordentlich durchgedoomte Posthalle und gute Laune beim Publikum sorgten. Im nächsten Jahr wird der Hammer wieder geschwungen - wir sind gespannt, aus welcher Richtung er dann zuschlägt.

One of the year's most unexpected Doom Metal albums is also now one of 2013's most anticipated, as the debut LP from Pacific Northwestern trio LUMBAR is being prepared for arrival.

  While this brutalising slow-motion trio boasts what some are referring to as “supergroup” status — containing members Aaron Edge (Himsa, Iamthethorn, Roareth, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth), Mike Scheidt (YOB) and Tad Doyle (Tad, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth) — LUMBAR was formed by these longtime friends for much more than simply creating riffs. The brainchild of Aaron Edge, LUMBAR came together earlier this year when the well-known guitarist/drummer/graphic designer was unexpectedly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. What would be his final musical endeavor before waves of rapidly-spreading pain engulfed him and extended hospital stays became more than frequent, is now his most imperative.

  On LUMBAR's debut album, The First And Last Days Of Unwelcome, Edge is joined by Mike Scheidt and Tad Doyle, the latter of whom also shares rank in Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth with Aaron, who helped bring this intense and important project to fruition. The musical result is as diverse and destructive as one may expect from such a lineup, with the varied influence from this trio of musicians coalescing into seven organic and tonally oppressive movements. Ethereal ghostly passages and spacious expanses of minimalistic disharmony come to an end in sonic obliteration through mesmerising and pulverizing, as an array of distinct vocal mantras echo from the heart of it all.



  Southern Lord will release The First And Last Days Of Unwelcome on LP and digital formats in the UK/EU on November 11th, followed by a CD version direct from the band and a cassette version via Holy Mountain, with all of the band’s proceeds going to aid Edge’s medical expenses and treatments.

NOOTHGRUSH/COFFINS

Southern Lord bring us a split album from two of the heaviest sludge bands that ever existed! Coffins from Tokyo, Japan churn out the filthiest, nastiest noise heard in a long long time, whilst Oakland, California's sludge pioneers Noothgrush return from the grave to teach us a lesson in joylessness. Featuring artwork by Josh Graham, this utterly oppressive slab of crushing doom shall be officially released on 12" via Southern Lord in the UK/EU on 11 November. This is a split of frankly extraordinary calibre and superlative weight, two heavyweights of the doom world colliding with enormous results.

  Noothgrush return with their first studio recording since 1998, and the disdain, the disgust… It hasn’t faded one bit. Their gruesome sludge is rooted in the real life, in the misery, hatred and despair of humanity – there are no traces of fantasy or psychedelic moments of horror movie nostalgia in this amoral cut of agonising doom. With Dino Somesse, the man who personified anguish in 90’s crust sludge golden calves Dystopia, joining the band on vocals, this is a rare ignition of the scum-ridden sludge sound which America haemorrhaged during the last decade of the millennium. Noothgrush's side of the split opens with crawling, pained riffs punctuated with sparse percussion, and then the weight of the world comes down. Rasping vocals, disturbing samples, and songs which grab you by the throat and open your eyes to mad-made hell.

  Coffins, the Japanese masters of rockin’ death doom, have (once again) succeeded in making exactly the kind of music you would feel comfortable having as your soundtrack whilst riding a Harley Davidson into hell like you own the place. Their hammer comes down heavier than ever on these two tracks, wielding monstrous groove with downright foul tactics. Guttural is an understatement – what comes out of the mouth of vocalist Uchino is a tar-thick gargle with the stench of death, laying to waste whatever living creatures inhale it. Plants will wither, animals scurry, and metal fans… will bang their heads! Channelling the old school death metal filth of Autopsy with an altogether more rollicking lurch, this is horrific doom metal to rage to.
